About The Position

The CSUF Office of Alumni Engagement is seeking a Social Media Student Assistant to serve as content creator for various social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube and LinkedIn. The Social Media Student Assistant is supervised by the Associate Director of Communications. This position involves a multifaceted role where you will be tasked with creating engaging content, designing visually appealing graphics, scheduling posts, and maintaining our social media platforms. The ideal candidate will possess a versatile skill set, comfortable both in front and behind the camera. Responsibilities are largely completed independently. Excellent writing and time allocation skills are required for this position. Requirements

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Experience in maintaining social networking sites (Facebook, X and Instagram) for a company, organization, club, etc.
  • Knowledge of social media monitoring tools (Hootsuite, Sprout Social, Buffer, Linktree).
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in a job or educational setting, working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated writing and editing experience for a website, social media platform, publication, newspaper, or magazine.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop and Premiere) and Canva.
  • Photography and videography skills.
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work.
  • Ability to follow oral instructions.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels.
  • Ability to read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.
