Social Media Manager, Founder Brand

Root Financial•Encinitas, CA
•$75,000 - $90,000

About The Position

Root Financial is hiring a Founder Brand & Social Media Manager to grow James Conole’s personal channels on YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. The role uses those channels to attract right-fit retirement clients for Root Financial and potential advisors and team members. The manager owns the planning and execution of James’s social presence so he can focus on ideas, messaging, and appearing on camera. This includes building the content calendar, planning filming, selecting formats, coordinating editing and posting, and bringing James a clear plan to review. Content will combine client-facing education with behind-the-scenes and culture content showing how Root thinks, works, and treats people. The manager will also monitor and respond to comments and DMs, guide interested followers toward Root’s existing funnels, track performance, and coordinate with the central marketing team. The role does not own James’s long-form YouTube content strategy. The first-year goals include publishing 3–6 short-form videos per day across Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok using new and existing footage; generating trackable leads; supporting advisor and key-hire recruiting; acknowledging comments and DMs within 24 hours; and maintaining a reliable filming capture system.

Requirements

  • 2–5+ years of experience in social media or content as a creator, editor, or social media manager for a personality, brand, or agency.
  • Proven examples of growing accounts and driving meaningful actions, not just impressions.
  • Strong short-form editing skills and native fluency with Instagram Reels, Facebook, and TikTok.
  • Comfort prompting a founder on camera and organizing the founder’s time without creating friction.
  • Based in San Diego and able to be on-site regularly.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain a rolling content calendar for James’s short-form channels.
  • Propose topics, hooks, and angles that incorporate James’s ideas and Root’s strategic priorities.
  • Choose content formats, posting cadence, and timing.
  • Monitor trends, formats, and algorithm changes relevant to educational and financial content and recommend timely responses.
  • Balance client-facing educational content with behind-the-scenes and culture content that supports recruiting.
  • Plan and run regular content sessions with James using the calendar and shot lists.
  • Capture in-office content, including content that does not directly involve James.
  • Film James in the office and at selected events, prompting him with clear questions and hooks.
  • Capture day-in-the-life content and post-meeting reflections that show Root’s culture and decision-making.
  • Pull clips from existing footage and repurpose them.
  • Edit platform-native short-form content, including hooks, pacing, and captions, and prepare posts for James to approve or publish.
  • Monitor comments and DMs on James’s accounts and respond using Root’s voice and scripts.
  • Use existing tools and manual scripts to direct followers to guides, workshops, or Fit Calls.
  • Share lead and content insights with sales and marketing.
  • Track views, saves, follows, profile visits, link clicks, and leads, and report what is and is not working.
  • Coordinate with Root’s central marketing team so James’s content supports rather than conflicts with brand-level campaigns and assets.

Benefits
