Social Media Manager

US MobileNew York City, NY

About The Position

US Mobile is building the future of wireless communication with the goal of creating one unified network open to any person and any device, worldwide. They are achieving this by empowering customers with options like having all three major networks on one phone and one plan, plus home internet from Starlink, with no lock-in or commitments. They offer custom-fit plans at every price point and provide 24/7 customer support with real people. The company values real-time feedback from Reddit, surveys, and customer support to inform product roadmaps. Consumer Reports has recognized them as the top-rated mobile carrier for two consecutive years. They are building innovative, scalable systems with a network-agnostic tech stack and operate with agile, cross-functional teams built on trust and mutual respect. This role is for individuals who work fast, flexibly, and collaboratively without compromising standards. Wireless carriers have historically sounded corporate and forgettable. US Mobile aims to be the first mobile carrier people actually want to follow, with a platform that is genuinely different. They are seeking a Social Media Manager who is deeply immersed in the online world, understands virality, and can make a "phone plan" a topic of social sharing. This is a hands-on role where the individual will be directly involved in content creation, community management, and performance analysis, rather than managing a team. The Social Media Manager will own the day-to-day voice of US Mobile across all channels and will be responsible for understanding how social media efforts impact business metrics. The ideal candidate is someone who proactively engages with brands online and is passionate about social media.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of hands-on social media experience at a brand, agency, or fast-moving startup
  • A portfolio or examples of content you personally created, wrote, or edited
  • Comfort being both the creative and the analyst: you can shoot/edit a TikTok in the morning and defend a KPI dashboard in the afternoon
  • Excellent, adaptable writing — you can shift tone across platforms without losing a consistent brand personality
  • A genuine, current relationship with the internet: you know why something is funny or shareable before it's explained to you
  • Bias for action — comfortable publishing and iterating in real time rather than waiting for a dozen rounds of approval
  • Experience with social analytics/listening tools

Nice To Haves

  • Bonus points if you've grown an account from a cold start

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day tone across TikTok, Instagram, X, Reddit, and YouTube
  • Partner with the content team to conceive, script, shoot, and edit social-first content, from quick-turn reactive posts to planned campaign content
  • Build and manage the content calendar, balancing always-on posts with product launches, network news, and cultural moments
  • Spot trends and platform shifts early, and translate them into brand-relevant content
  • Partner with internal and external teams to keep messaging and brand experience consistent without sounding like a robot
  • Set and report on social KPIs (e.g. follower growth, engagement, traffic, and downstream conversion/signups) and use them to shape future content
  • Run regular performance reporting and translate the data into specific "do more of this, kill that" recommendations
  • Identify and act on opportunities to turn organic social moments into acquisition or retention wins
  • Keep a pulse on competitors and the broader culture landscape to inform US Mobile's social strategy
  • Manage community interactions and inbound engagement across channels, maintaining a distinct, human brand voice in every reply
  • Monitor for and jump on real-time cultural and platform moments with a bias for speed over polish
  • Surface user-generated content, fan moments, and community insight back into the content pipeline

Benefits

  • Annual company offsite and hackathon in a global destination (e.g., Dubai, Japan, Hawaii, New Zealand planned for 2027)
  • Competitive Salary
  • Gym reimbursement
  • Commute reimbursement
  • Flexible working hours
  • Professional development stipend
  • Flexible time off
  • Cell phone service (up to $100/mo)
