Social Media Manager

Baseten•San Francisco, CA

About The Position

Baseten powers mission-critical inference for the world's most dynamic AI companies. We're looking for a senior social media manager to own how Baseten shows up on social. Our audience is ML engineers, infrastructure teams, and technical founders. This role decides what that first impression is. This is a senior individual contributor role where you set the strategy and write the posts. You will work with product marketing, comms, design, engineers, and founders. This role relies on technical credibility; you need to understand what we're claiming and why it matters, as we post about latency, throughput, and GPU cost and hold ourselves to getting those details right.

Requirements

  • 5+ years running social media for a technical, developer-facing, or B2B technology brand, with significant experience in writing and publishing posts.
  • A track record of growing social media accounts; candidates will be asked to discuss successful posts and their impact.
  • Technical fluency to accurately write about inference, GPUs, and model performance, and to engage engineers with relevant follow-up questions.
  • Native fluency on X and LinkedIn, and comfort producing short-form video.
  • Experience managing a brand's social media account, including making judgment calls on content.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced launch cycle with evolving plans and short reaction windows.
  • A clear perspective on how AI companies should present themselves online, with examples of effective strategies.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to a variety of ML startups, offering unparalleled learning and networking opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Be the face of the Baseten brand on social channels and build a direct line of communication with the community across X, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other relevant communities.
  • Track the conversation across AI and open source, and move quickly to add value when opportunities arise.
  • Set the social strategy, including content distribution across channels, account growth, and measurement, with a clear point of view on channel investment.
  • Translate technical work into shareable content, such as model launches, benchmark results, open source projects, engineering deep dives, and customer outcomes.
  • Lead the social media aspect of launches in collaboration with product marketing, product, and engineering teams.
  • Produce content, including shooting and editing short-form video at events, in the office, and around launches, and brief freelancers or design partners when necessary.
  • Scale the voices of the team by helping engineers, GTM, and leadership post effectively while maintaining their authentic voice, and ghostwriting where beneficial.
  • Report on follower growth, engagement, reach, and share of voice against goals, and adjust the strategy based on performance data.
  • Manage contractors and creators to extend content output beyond individual capacity.

  • Competitive compensation, including meaningful equity
  • 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance for employee and dependents (U.S. only)
  • Flexible PTO policy including company wide Winter Break
  • Paid parental leave
