About The Position

Kingz Kimonos (kingz.com) is a leading Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu apparel and gear brand. Since 2011, we have been committed to creating high-quality, performance-driven products for BJJ practitioners worldwide. Our gear is trusted by athletes at every level — from beginners to world champions. The leadership team sets the overall brand vision and approves creative direction. This role requires a strategist who can translate that vision into a sharp, executable digital plan and then carry it out. You will develop content strategies, propose campaigns, manage social platforms and newsletters, and bring data-driven recommendations back to leadership. This is not a pure execution role; you are expected to think, plan, present, and deliver.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of social media and digital marketing experience — a portfolio showing strategy and results is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strategies, not just execute tasks — show us campaigns you have planned from concept to results.
  • Strong copywriting and brand voice skills — you write content that resonates and converts.
  • Fluent in analytics — you know how to read platform data, identify what matters, and adjust accordingly.
  • Proficient with email and social tools (Klaviyo, Meta Business Suite, etc.).
  • Self-directed and communicative — you bring ideas forward, flag issues early, and manage your workload without hand-holding.
  • San Diego-based and in-person is strongly preferred. Remote candidates with exceptional skills and a strong fit for the Kingz brand will be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in sports, combat sports, or fitness is strongly preferred.
  • A passion for BJJ or martial arts is a major plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop monthly and quarterly social media and email strategies and present them to leadership for approval.
  • Research platform trends, competitor activity, and audience behavior to inform recommendations.
  • Define content themes, campaign calendars, and KPIs in alignment with brand goals.
  • Identify growth opportunities across platforms and propose initiatives proactively.
  • Create, schedule, and publish content across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and X.
  • Write copy that reflects the Kingz voice with consistency and authenticity.
  • Manage community engagement — respond to comments, DMs, and interactions with care.
  • Analyze performance data and deliver clear monthly reports to the team with actionable insights.
  • Write, design, and deploy email campaigns for product launches, events, and athlete stories.
  • Build and manage segmented lists to improve targeting and relevance.
  • Test subject lines, send times, and content formats to continuously improve results.
  • Own list health, unsubscribe rates, and deliverability.
  • Ensure the Kingz voice is applied consistently across all digital touchpoints.
  • Support product launches, event campaigns, and athlete partnerships with coordinated messaging.
  • Collaborate with the team on campaign briefs and timelines.
