About The Position

The Social Media Content Coordinator will help bring HI Canada’s hostels, places, and people to life across our national social channels. In collaboration with the National Marketing team, this role supports the capture, curation, organization, and delivery of social-first content. We’re looking for someone who naturally notices good moments, understands internet culture, and gets excited about turning hostel life, local adventures, and travel experiences into content people actually want to watch, save, and share.

Requirements

  • Previous hostelling experience and/or experience in the tourism or hospitality industry.
  • Demonstrable experience managing a brand’s social media account, preferably in the youth market.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and associated applications.
  • Ability to capture clean, engaging short-form videos and photos on a smartphone.
  • Basic editing skills for short-form video content.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with friendly, sharp wit, creativity and knack for online chatter.
  • Ability to work alone but collaborate with teams (via Teams and in person).
  • Comfortable working during non-standard business hours, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation of HI Canada’s social media approach in alignment with brand guidelines, content pillars, and posting guardrails.
  • Assist in capturing, editing, organizing, and preparing content from hostels across Canada for national use.
  • Collaborate with the Content Manager through check-ins to align priorities.
  • Support influencer collaborations in alignment with overall social strategy.
  • Collect and review social media analytics and statistics.
  • Monitor and respond to social media or other online mentions of the HI Canada brand, as needed.
  • Stay current on social media trends, platform updates, creator culture, and best practices, and contribute new ideas.
  • Other related duties as required.

  • Part-time position, 2 days per week (15 hours per week) at $21.00/hour
  • Primarily remote, with preference given to candidates based within reasonable travel distance of HI Canada hostels in Alberta or British Columbia
