About The Position

This is an unpaid volunteer position for individuals seeking flexible volunteer opportunities to gain valuable experience while supporting ARO’s mission to help victims of abuse. The role offers the flexibility of working in a virtual environment and connecting with passionate individuals worldwide. It provides opportunities for cross-training, leadership, mentoring, and professional growth. The position requires availability of 8-10 hours per week and involves providing high-level support to the Social Media Department leadership. The volunteer will handle incoming communications, review content, determine importance, and distribute it to appropriate staff. Tasks include editing presentations, reviewing social media videos, editing, maintaining records, reassigning tasks for the Social Media Campaign Content Calendar, managing past due tasks, and engaging on Slack. The volunteer will also attend monthly company meetings and maintain availability Monday-Thursday to prepare for administrative tasks assigned for the following workday. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Must be available to volunteer 8-10 hours a week.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, respond the same day to inquiries.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and, at times, stressful environment.

Nice To Haves

  • In EST or a nearby time zone, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides high-level support and assistance to the Social Media Department leadership.
  • Receives incoming communications on behalf of senior staff, reviews content, determines importance, and summarizes and/or distributes content to appropriate staff.
  • Performs department tasks, including editing presentations, reviewing social media videos, and, in some cases editing, maintaining records, reassigning tasks to proper team members for the Social Media Campaign Content Calendar, managing past due tasks, engaging in Slack, etc.
  • Attends monthly company meeting.
  • Maintain availability throughout the workweek (Monday–Thursday) to receive and prepare for administrative tasks assigned for the following workday.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Actively engage with the organization's social media platforms by liking, sharing, or commenting on posts to help spread awareness of the mission and initiatives.
