About The Position

Avista is a person-centred, rights-based organisation that supports children and adults with disabilities through Day, Residential and Respite services. The Social Care Worker will work in the Community Residential Service in Limerick, supporting people with intellectual disabilities and their families in a person-centred, community-based and socially inclusive manner, in line with Avista’s values and ethos and with a focus on quality, best practice and research. The advertised role is available as a permanent full-time position (39 hours per week), permanent part-time, or relief contract. The campaign may also create a panel for future full-time, part-time, permanent or temporary vacancies across Avista services. Salary is €41,260–€57,789 (LSI), subject to relevant public-sector experience and pro-rated for hours worked.

Requirements

QQI Level 7 or higher qualification in Social Care, Applied Social Studies, or equivalent; the award must be eligible for CORU registration.
CORU-recognised Social Care qualification.
Full clean Irish driving licence for manual vehicles.
Proficiency in English.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in the area of intellectual disability.
Previous experience working with people who have behaviours of concern.
Experience with person-centred planning.
Awareness of HIQA standards and regulations.
Desire to support people to live their best lives.
Willingness to support people to develop skills and competencies around identified areas of interest and learning.
