About The Position

The Social and Emotional Learning Interventionist supports the development and implementation of a school-wide, classroom and individual student behavior management system. This includes development, implementation and coordination of intervention plans that address students' inappropriate behaviors and provide a means to student success.

Requirements

  • Related bachelor’s degree
  • Related Missouri Teaching or School Counseling Certification
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to collect and analyze individual and universal social emotional data
  • Ability to collaborate with school staff and parents for the purpose of designing and supporting plans for student success and safety
  • Knowledge of behavior management techniques
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with individuals and small student groups
  • Ability to listen well and take initiative to solve problems
  • Strong organizational skills and self-motivation
  • Ability to work with a multi-ethnic, multicultural student population
  • Ability to remain flexible and positive with the demands and assignments of the job without losing sight of the mission, task or assignment
  • Ability to work independently, use good judgment and think quickly and rationally in stressful situations
  • Ability to effectively present information, respond to questions, and interact positively with students, staff, administration, and the community
  • Ability to work as a team player, communicate, and collaborate with staff and other professionals
  • Willingness to learn new material

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree
  • Previous experience in an elementary school setting

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of a school-wide, classroom and individual student behavior management system.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate intervention plans that address students' inappropriate behaviors and provide a means to student success.
  • Design and support plans for student success and safety in collaboration with school staff and parents.
  • Provide students with self-regulation capacity and the social skills necessary to develop meaningful relationships within the school community.
  • Provide therapeutic services that promote self-awareness, reflection, goal setting, and accountability.
  • Set personalized daily behavior goals.
  • Provide sensory breaks/structured activities to help individual students return to learning.
  • Visit classrooms to observe students/support student progress.
  • Produce engaging lessons.
  • Train other staff on social emotional learning.
  • Attend social emotional learning professional development.
