About The Position

Catalight is seeking a Social and Content Manager to manage its social media presence across LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, with potential expansion to platforms like TikTok, Reddit, Threads, and Bluesky. This role will also involve writing longer-form content such as articles, media pieces, website copy, and award submissions. The ideal candidate will be a creative and journalistic writer with the ability to copywrite when needed. The primary focus is on owning Catalight’s social and content presence, executing external communications strategies to support brand awareness, engagement, and growth. The role requires a storyteller who can capture attention across various media and contribute to building the company's future.

Requirements

  • Understanding of various audiences, media consumption habits, and engagement strategies.
  • Experience with some level of video production.
  • Nose for a good story and ability to make mundane topics interesting.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams (design, executives, researchers).
  • Skill in making complex concepts and research clear, relevant, and relatable.
  • Reliability and dependability.
  • Self-starter and independent worker, able to operate proactively after a learning period.
  • General understanding of necessary tasks, especially on social media.
  • Ability to remain steady under pressure and adapt to evolving situations.
  • Ability to handle feedback well and care deeply about work.
  • Confidence in educating stakeholders on social media effectiveness.
  • 5-8 years of experience in communications, public relations, content marketing, or similar field.
  • Educational background in communications, public relations, journalism, creative writing, or similar.
  • At least three writing samples.
  • At least three examples of social media work (personal or professional).
  • Ability to work on Pacific Time.
  • Knowledge of multiple historically excluded groups, with knowledge in I/DD communities.
  • Growth mindset, openness to feedback, and understanding of human imperfections and biases.
  • Sensitivity to working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity and solve problems.

Responsibilities

  • Create content for Catalight’s current social media channels, focusing on video and microcontent.
  • Maintain and grow presence on LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.
  • Explore and develop content for new social media channels, particularly TikTok.
  • Manage social media campaigns from end-to-end, including those for Autism Awareness Month and conference promotions.
  • Stay updated on social media best practices and trends for both companies and individuals.
  • Produce or direct the creation of multimedia social assets (video, graphics, photos, LinkedIn carousels, gifs).
  • Drive awareness of Catalight’s remote offerings, such as Catalight Academy and ChooseYourPath.org.
  • Elevate psychologists, researchers, clinicians, and executives as thought leaders.
  • Showcase the culture of the Catalight family of companies to connect employees, remind them of their impact, and aid in recruitment.
  • Organize and track the performance of social media initiatives.
  • Communicate how Catalight is advancing the autism support industry and positively impacting the world.
  • Share stories of employees and patients within the Catalight family of companies.
  • Increase awareness of Catalight’s growth in number, scope, and geography.
  • Highlight challenges in the autism care industry that Catalight addresses.
  • Raise the profile of Catalight leaders.
  • Interview psychologists, researchers, clinicians, and executives.
  • Position Catalight for media opportunities.
  • Assist in the monthly publication of Catalight’s newsletter, The Catalyst.
  • Support the creation of paid social ads and digital marketing initiatives.
  • Analyze social ad performance.
  • Assist with social media for Easterseals Northern California and Easterseals Hawaii.
  • Write articles for the Easterseals Northern California and Easterseals Hawaii website, if needed.
  • Assist with family of company events, including the annual conference and fundraisers.
  • Help produce and promote the company’s podcast, What’s Up With Catalight!.
  • Engage in public relations and media relations.
  • Build content to support fundraising campaigns.
  • Aid in the personal social media presence of select Catalight leaders.
