About The Position

This announcement is for a Boys Varsity Head Coach for Soccer for the 2026-2027 School Year. The position is contingent on the number of students playing and includes a stipend of $5,351, which is based on the 2022-2025 agreement with the Malden Education Association (MEA). The stipend amount may increase pending MEA ratification and Malden School Committee approval.

Requirements

  • Previous Soccer coaching experience is desirable.
  • Previous experience in either high school, college or both is desirable.
  • Knowledge of basketball and its rules, and ability to instruct players in all facets of the sport.
  • Evidence of ability to get along with pupils, parents, colleagues and other citizens.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
  • Maintain accurate records of squad lists, injury reports, scores of games (report to athletic office and newspapers as requested), incident reports, physical examinations.
  • Be available during the entire school year to lend assistance in guidance and counseling to his/her squad members; i.e. scholastic achievement, college entrance, citizenship.
  • Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies and uniforms as appropriate.
  • Responsible for determining the athlete’s academic eligibility.
  • Oversees the safety conditions of the facility of area in which the assigned sport is played at all times that students are present.
  • Make regular check of the safety of all equipment.
  • Enforce discipline and encourage sportsmanship like behavior at all times.
  • Responsible for enforcing the rules set forth by the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association.
  • Assists in the distribution and collection of all uniforms and equipment.
  • Coaches are responsible for equipment not returned by his team members at the designated time.
  • Organize and posts a daily schedule for the team and assistant coaches.
  • Performs all other duties as the principal may deem to be in the best interest of the sport, pupil and school.
