About The Position

This year-round position engages and manages all seasons of snowmaking. Find your dream job and make it snow! The Snowmaking Supervisor/Technician is responsible for instructing, directing, assisting, and consulting with crews to ensure safe, effective, and efficient completion of assignments. This role involves the maintenance and repair of all snowmaking equipment and infrastructure, operating snowmaking equipment, snowmobiles, and snow cats, and managing snowmaking facilities. Additionally, the position requires monitoring weather forecasts, assisting with planning and presentation of snowmaking orientation, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The role also includes performing preventative maintenance, service, calibration, and repairs of snowmaking equipment, assisting with new construction or expansion of snowmaking infrastructure, making snow as needed, repairing air and water hydrants, performing minor building maintenance, organizing snowmaker equipment, and completing necessary paperwork.

Requirements

  • 2 years of previous work history/education required
  • Snowmobile certification (may be acquired after hiring)
  • ATV’s (may be acquired after hiring) required
  • Interact and maintain positive relationships with guests, co-workers and management consistent with Steamboat Ski and Resort Company’s Service Excellence standards
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Communicate clearly in English, both verbal / non-verbal, and written

Responsibilities

  • Instruct, direct, assist, and consult with crews with the goal of helping them to successfully complete their assignments in a safe, effective, and efficient manner
  • Maintenance and repair of all snow making equipment, and infrastructure
  • Assist in planning snowmaking field operations
  • Operate snowmaking equipment, snowmobiles, and snow cats as necessary in support of snowmaking operations
  • Meet, brief and de-brief snowmaking crews at shift change
  • Ensure that snowmaking facilities are kept in a clean, organized, and functional condition
  • Advocate for snowmaking personnel
  • Advise superiors of any situations or conditions that might influence the safety, efficiency, or moral of snowmaking employees
  • Suggest plans and actions to maximize these conditions
  • Process and manage any documents that may be necessary from time to time. These include but are not limited to; Maintenance records, Incident and Accident reports, Snowmobile and Snow Cat work orders, and Safety Suggestions
  • Ensure that snowmaker equipment is assigned to snowmaking personnel and that a record of such assignment is taken and kept. Likewise, ensure that such equipment is returned and accounted for at the end of the snowmaking season
  • Monitor weather forecasts and conditions and assist in making decisions based thereon as to where and when to commence or cease snowmaking operations
  • Assist with the planning and preparation of the annual snowmaking orientation and help with all aspects of its presentation
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as any regulatory requirements
  • Perform preventative maintenance, service, calibration, and repairs of all types of snowmaking equipment
  • Assist with any new construction or expansion of snowmaking infrastructure
  • Make Snow as needed
  • Repair air and water hydrants
  • Inspect, repair, and/or replace hydrants in field
  • Perform minor building maintenance such as cleaning and painting
  • Organize and maintain snowmaker equipment such as hydrant wrenches, helmets, headlights, utility belts, etc.
  • Complete work orders and any other paperwork required for the work assigned
