Snowmaking

Boyne ResortsCottonwood Heights, UT
Onsite

About The Position

Brighton Resort is looking for dedicated and resilient individuals to join our Snowmaking team. Snowmakers work long hours outdoors, in extreme mountain conditions, helping build and maintain the snow base that our guests depend on. This role is physically demanding, weather-dependent, and plays a key part in setting the stage for our guests' experience each day. Snowmaking is a seasonal, intensive push that runs the first couple of months of winter, typically mid-November through mid-January. Because production depends on weather and snow conditions, hours are highly variable, ranging from 48+ hour work weeks to multiple days off in a row. We run shifts around the clock, with day, swing, and graveyard positions available. Once the snowmaking season wraps, team members keep their pass and perks for the rest of the season. If you enjoy working outside, staying active, and helping others, we'd love to have you on the team!

Requirements

  • Are 18 years of age or older.
  • Can lift, carry, push or pull up to 75 lbs and perform physically demanding work in cold, outdoor, alpine conditions, sometimes for extended hours.
  • Are comfortable working outdoors in all weather, including nights, early mornings, weekends and holidays, often for 10-12 hour shifts.
  • Have a valid driver’s license and are able to operate mountain vehicles (ATV/UTV, snowmobile) or are willing to train.
  • Have mechanical aptitude (able to use hand tools, perform basic equipment checks, troubleshoot issues).
  • Have strong safety awareness and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Are dependable, have good attendance, and a willingness to work when the conditions enable snowmaking (weather-dependent windows).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in snowmaking, mountain operations, or outdoor mechanical/maintenance work.
  • Familiarity with winter conditions, cold environments, and variable terrain.

Responsibilities

  • Operating snowguns, compressors, hoses, and other snowmaking equipment in a safe manner.
  • Monitoring equipment and environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, wind) to ensure safe operations.
  • Identifying hazards on terrain, around equipment, or during night/early-morning shifts and communicating them promptly.
  • Working behind the scenes to create the snow the rest of the resort operates on—your effort directly supports guest experience.
  • Collaborating with Grooming, Lift Operations and Mountain Operations so the guest experience is seamless from the snow base up.
  • Maintaining a positive, team-oriented mindset despite long hours, cold conditions, and changing weather.
  • Being reliable, alert, and ready to adapt when conditions shift or demands change.
  • Setting up, adjusting, relocating, and shutting down snowmaking equipment efficiently to maximize production.
  • Monitoring snow quality, making necessary adjustments to water/air flows or nozzles, and documenting performance.
  • Performing routine maintenance and troubleshooting tasks on snowmaking gear, vehicles or related systems.
  • Caring for equipment, hoses, hydrants, vehicles and snowmaking infrastructure to extend service life and avoid downtime.
  • Noticing patterns or recurring issues and providing suggestions for system improvements or efficiencies.
  • Working as part of the snowmaking crew and assisting newer team members with processes, safety procedures and best practices.
  • Communicating clearly with the broader mountain operations team so effort is coordinated, efficient and safe.
