About The Position

The City of Fishers is hiring experienced backhoe and loader operators for a seasonal, on-call snow removal team. This temporary position is called to duty only during city winter weather events and involves helping keep school and municipal properties clear of snow and safe for the public. The primary responsibility is moving and removing snow from parking lots within the City's snow removal jurisdiction. Shifts are 12 hours and typically run either 9 p.m. to 9 a.m. or 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Shift start times are not flexible, but end times may be flexible based on availability. Applicants unable to work a full 12-hour shift may share their availability when contacted. When substantial snowfall or ice is expected, staff may be placed on call with as much advance notice as possible. Once committed to on-call status, operators are expected to be rested and ready to work their full shift if called. Paid training is provided, including a classroom presentation, video, and ride-along as needed. Training sessions are scheduled for November 21 and December 12; only one session is required.
