About The Position

Under general direction of the Floor Leader, the SMT Operator is responsible for a wide variety of duties in the assembly and testing of various electro-mechanical assemblies. This role involves producing quality product safely, meeting manufacturing efficiency standards, and escalating problems to the floor leader to reduce defects. The operator will build and test control board assemblies, utilizing a PC to access engineering documents, and will set up and operate surface mount equipment, reflow/wave solder ovens, and various other systems.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of production/quality standards, and assembly procedures/processes
  • Must have strong electro-mechanical ability/aptitude, excellent hand and eye coordination
  • Must be self-motivated, a team player with the ability to work in multi-task environment as well as independently
  • Minimum High School Diploma and/ or G.E.D (Required)
  • 2-3 years electronic control manufacturing SMT experience using “ Mycronic” pick & place machine (preferred)
  • Experience troubleshooting and performing Preventative Maintenance (PM) on SMT Pick & Place Equipment
  • 1-2 years assembly experience of electro-mechanical products
  • Ability to sit or stand at assembly work cells for up to 6-8 hours at time
  • Must be able to lift/carry/pull/push up to 40 pounds
  • Work environment requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety goggles, steel toe shoes/boots, and hearing protections

Responsibilities

  • Sets-up, runs and tears down SMT equipment.
  • Responsible for quality, safety, manufacturing efficiency and solutions.
  • Produces quality product safely, meeting manufacturing efficiency standards.
  • Escalates problems to floor leader and reduces defects such as missing, wrong, reversed parts and solder defects.
  • Builds and tests control board assemblies utilizing a PC to retrieve various engineering documents including but not limited to schematics, assembly layouts, test procedures, and work instructions.
  • Sets-up and operates surface mount equipment, reflow/wave solder ovens, various Ability to perform set-up of most system components
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by Team Leader(s).
