About The Position

Lithia Ford of Fresno is hiring an experienced SMOG Technician to perform California Smog Check inspections, emissions testing, and related diagnostics and repairs. The role involves hands-on vehicle inspection and service work, documenting inspection results, and communicating repair recommendations to service advisors. The technician must follow California regulations and Bureau of Automotive Repair standards, as well as dealership and manufacturer requirements. The position has a flat-rate pay range of $25.00–$70.00 and requires open availability for a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

• Current California Smog Inspector License.
• At least 3 years of previous dealership or high-volume automotive repair experience.
• Valid driver's license in the applicant's state of residence and an acceptable driving record.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Availability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• California Smog Repair License.
• Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform California Smog Check inspections in accordance with state regulations.
• Conduct emissions testing and diagnose emissions-related concerns.
• Complete repairs necessary to bring vehicles into compliance when applicable.
• Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation.
• Perform vehicle inspections and communicate repair recommendations to service advisors.
• Follow dealership, manufacturer, and California Bureau of Automotive Repair standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
