Certified Smog Check Inspector & Repair Technician
About The Position
DCH Subaru of Thousand Oaks is hiring a Certified Smog Check Inspector & Repair Technician to perform California Smog Check inspections and emissions testing, along with vehicle inspections, maintenance, and repairs. The role includes diagnosing and repairing emissions-related failures and other vehicle concerns, following Bureau of Automotive Repair requirements and applicable manufacturer, dealership, safety, and environmental procedures. Technicians work with Service Advisors and other technicians to provide a positive customer experience. The position offers opportunities to grow into advanced diagnostics and maintenance work as skills develop, with manufacturer procedures and dealership resources available to support quality and efficient work. This is a flat-rate position paying $17.00–$62.00 per flat-rate hour, with eligibility for short- and/or long-term incentives, including production/productivity bonus opportunities. Actual compensation may vary based on skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and physical location, and is established through the interview process. The schedule is a five-day workweek, with Sundays and one rotating weekday off.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of prior automotive technician experience.
- Current California Smog Check Inspector license.
- Current California Smog Check Repair Technician license.
- Experience performing vehicle inspections, maintenance, and repairs.
- Acceptable driving record.
- Valid driver's license in the state of residence.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Must be 18 years or older.
Responsibilities
- Perform California Smog Check inspections and emissions testing in accordance with Bureau of Automotive Repair requirements.
- Complete vehicle inspections, maintenance, and automotive repairs based on experience and skill level.
- Diagnose and repair emissions-related failures and other vehicle concerns so vehicles can pass Smog Check.
- Follow manufacturer, dealership, safety, and environmental procedures.
- Work with Service Advisors and other technicians to provide a positive customer experience.
