This role is responsible for key process and performance measures of the production area. The Smelter Process Technician will collaborate with the hourly workforce, management, production, and maintenance personnel to meet area objectives. The technician will also work with various support organizations to facilitate continuous process improvements. Responsibilities include investigating, diagnosing, and correcting issues with pots (hot, cold, noisy, high anode effect pots, high iron pots, and others), improving stability, and helping the hourly workforce troubleshoot technical issues. The role involves measuring and metering new pots, ensuring accurate measurements for safe and accurate start/restart, entering events on QLC mobile and APG, and verifying bath and metal corrections each shift for accurate liquid level control. The technician will also report issues with QLC box/electronics, assist supervisors with shift planning and work schedules, investigate all pots from lists and take corrective action, enter diagnostic and correction information into QLC or additional systems, use QLC mobile and additional tools to examine pots with new issues, follow schedules and perform vital checks on new pots, ensure all shifts complete measurement and sampling, and increase compliance of process control for new/restart pots.
