This position is chiefly responsible for the intake and distribution of all knives and other components to the Assembly department within Spyderco’s US manufacturing facility. This is done so though part kitting and maintaining the inventory of small parts, including conducting cycle counts. Additionally, this position will oversee day-to-day operations within the inventory cage including the receiving and issuing of small parts, logging transactions into the ERP/MRP system, maintaining effective small part inventory, and collaborating with other departments to ensure departmental and company goals are met. Schedule: Monday–Friday 7:00am-4:00pm Compensation: $25-$28 an hour (Experience, skills, and knowledge will be taken into consideration and adjusted accordingly)

Requirements

  • High School Diploma is required.
  • 2+ years of inventory management experience is required.
  • Ability to adapt, embrace new methods, give and receive objective criticism.
  • Strong ability to pay attention to detail and process large quantities of product and information with accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong basic math skills.
  • Proficient organizational skills and multitasking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Must be able to lift 55lbs.
  • Must be able to push, pull, lift, and reach frequently.
  • Must be able to be on feet for up to 2 hours at a time.

Nice To Haves

  • Any higher education around Computer Science or Programming is a plus and will be considered.
  • Machine shop or manufacturing experience is a plus and will be considered.
  • ERP/MRP system (Visual) knowledge is a plus.
  • Knife knowledge is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain inventory by completing daily cage intakes (utilizing ERP system) to ensure the proper allocation of small parts to different departments.
  • Receive small parts from various departments for intake, spot checks, and distribution to the Assembly department and other departments as needed.
  • Build part kits for assemblers, ensuring that builds and parts are accurate and standard in quality, and send any parts rejected by the Assembly department back to other departments as needed.
  • Receive finished products from Assembly and distribute them to Warehouse department.
  • Allocate ETFs (engineering test parts) to Engineering department for test models and prototypes; update small parts according to testing and engineering results.
  • Allocate and distribute small parts to Warranty & Repair department as needed.
  • Aid in the efficiency of the manufacturing process by creating work orders for coating process, knife handle prepping, and completing other tasks as needed.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to ensure any product issues are identified and properly address.
  • Ensure proper tools and supplies are available and up to date.
  • Communicate effectively with Manufacturing Managers as well as other department leads and management to ensure companywide goals are met.
  • Familiarization of Spyderco products, designs, steels, and materials.
  • Collaborate with team and delegate tasks or jobs to ensure department goals are met.
  • Ensure and maintain a clean, safe work environment according to 6S standards.
  • Attend and participate in meetings when necessary.
