About The Position

The Small Machine Operator performs general hand and table work, loads and unloads finishing machines, packs products, operates small finishing machines, and conducts periodic quality checks. The role includes maintaining product quality, following job tickets and standard operating procedures, and keeping the work area clean. The operator also performs minor machine maintenance and repairs, operates printing computers for carton labels, and trains new employees on all aspects of the job. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to write and speak simple sentences.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to count and measure.
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Basic personal computer skills.
• Ability to maintain good attendance.
• Willingness to work overtime as needed.
• Ability to perform all essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Operate small finishing machines.
• Perform hand stripping and general table work.
• Train new employees on all aspects of the job.
• Operate printing computers for carton labels.
• Read and follow standard operating procedures for each job.
• Maintain a clean work environment.
• Maintain product quality.
• Perform minor maintenance and repairs on small machines.
• Read and follow directions on job tickets.
• Count products to ensure accuracy.
• Distinguish colors to ensure quality accuracy.
• Work on machine-driven processes, including card wrappers and pixie strippers.
• Perform other job duties as assigned.
