Small Group Instructor
About The Position
This part-time position provides small-group reading tutoring for assigned students, working both inside and outside the classroom. The instructor delivers well-planned, grade-level-appropriate tutoring in various content areas, aligned with students’ needs and achievement data, to promote student success. The schedule is 12 hours per week and is established by school administration on a year-to-year basis. Compensation is a flat hourly rate determined by the Board of Education. The instructor reports to the Principal and Assistant Principal and supervises assigned small groups of students.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
Responsibilities
- Share responsibility for supervising students and providing instruction to assigned small groups.
- Collaborate with students’ teachers to ensure instruction addresses individual learning needs.
- Follow and implement approved behavior management procedures.
- Maintain written lesson plans and tutor schedules.
- Recommend actions to teachers and administration concerning student performance and achievement.
- Help ensure students are safe at all times.
- Follow emergency procedures consistent with the district Crisis Response and Emergency Evacuation Plans.
- Recommend improvements to the tutor program.
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and concerns.
- Participate in assigned training and workshops.
- Foster respectful staff-student relationships that contribute to students’ positive self-esteem.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
