About The Position

The Small Construction Project Coordinator will join the IDIQ & Construction Services Directorate to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA Langley Research Center. The role requires a high standard of quality and professionalism, adherence to all safety policies and procedures, and direct reporting to the Program Manager.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Two (2) years of college with courses in engineering or associated disciplines, and six (6) years of related experience preferred.
  • Additional relevant education or construction project management experience may be substituted for any equivalent combination of education/experience for a total of eight (8) years.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of programs gained through long and varied work experience in field of specialty.
  • Ability to effectively communicate both orally and written with effective use of visual aids.
  • Ability to use computing technology for problem analysis and solution.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Must exhibit professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety/risk hazard to the employee or others.
  • Ability to cooperate and work with individuals at all levels of the company and the client organization.
  • Diligence when developing a Safe Plan of Action (SPA) for each task performed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in building and/or systems construction, management and construction cost estimating preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of construction trades with an emphasis on Mechanical/HVAC.
  • Working proficiency with computer aided drafting software such as AutoCAD.
  • Working proficiency with computerized maintenance management system such as MAXIMO.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate construction projects from the initial request phase to completion and close out, including planning and estimating, coordinating subcontractors, awarding contracts, minor construction management, on-site verification, tracking schedule and costs, constant communication with the customer, and finalizing necessary deliverables.
  • Create independent construction estimates using tools such as RSMeans Construction Cost Data.
  • Read engineered drawings and specifications to identify project scope.
  • Assist in the development of drawings and specifications for construction projects.
  • Create business letters, correspondence, and reports in final form, using correct grammar, punctuation, spelling, and formatting.
  • Apply knowledge of project management principles, practices, methods, and techniques.
  • Demonstrate decision-making skills and the ability to deal effectively with others in person-to-person work relationships.
  • Coordinate numerous projects simultaneously, all at varying project phases, with little oversight.
