About The Position

The Sleep Technician works under the general supervision of the Manager and Lead Technologist and performs a wide variety of polysomnographic studies. The Technician analyzes data, scores polysomnograms, and compiles data into reports for physician review. Additional duties within the scope of the role may be assigned.

The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. A-STEP online self-study enrollment is required within two weeks of hire, with completion by the applicable AASM deadline. BLS certification is required. The role is based at Baptist Medical Center South and is listed as regular full-time on the third shift.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Enroll in the A-STEP online self-study program within two weeks of hire and complete it within the AASM deadline.
• BLS certification.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with understanding and sensitivity to patient comfort and confidentiality.
• Moderate computer literacy.
• Ability to provide a positive customer service experience to guests, visitors, and patients.
• Ability to maintain professional, customer-centric composure in difficult or challenging situations.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of direct-contact patient care experience.
• EEG, LPN, EMT, Respiratory Therapist, or previous sleep experience.
• Proficiency in the principles of polysomnography and electroencephalography.
• ACLS certification.
