Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of an accredited polysomnography program
  • Current RPSGT credential and/or CRT/RRT credentials
  • Current BLS/CPR certification
  • Required immunizations and health clearances
  • Strong patient care and communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Previous sleep laboratory experience
  • Experience with PAP titration studies
  • Knowledge of AASM standards and best practices
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and documentation skills

Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze patient medical histories and physician orders.
  • Assess patient-specific needs, including physical, emotional, and clinical considerations.
  • Explain testing procedures and answer patient questions.
  • Complete and verify all required patient documentation.
  • Prepare, calibrate, and troubleshoot sleep diagnostic equipment.
  • Verify recording systems and patient video monitoring equipment are functioning properly.
  • Apply electrodes and sensors according to AASM and laboratory standards.
  • Perform physiologic calibrations and signal verification.
  • Conduct PAP mask fittings and pressure adjustments when appropriate.
  • Conduct overnight polysomnographic studies.
  • Follow established protocols for: PAP titration studies, Oxygen titration, Multiple Sleep Latency Tests (MSLT), Maintenance of Wakefulness Tests (MWT), Parasomnia studies, Other specialized diagnostic procedures.
  • Establish and document baseline patient measurements prior to testing.
  • Monitor study quality throughout the night and make real-time adjustments as needed.
  • Ensure artifact-free signal acquisition and accurate data collection.
  • Document patient observations and significant events throughout the study.
  • Record sleep stages, respiratory events, oxygen saturation levels, body position changes, heart rate, respiratory rate, and pressure adjustments.
  • Analyze sleep study data and prepare findings for physician interpretation.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and compliant patient records.
