About The Position

Devereux New York is seeking dedicated professionals to join their team as Sleep DSPs. This role involves working with children and adults with developmental disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses. The position is located in Lake Katrine, NY, and allows for overnight sleep at the assigned location, with an expectation of approximately seven hours of sleep per night. The Sleep DSP must be responsive to residents' needs if support is required during the night. During awake hours, responsibilities include assisting individuals with daily activities such as health and personal management, achieving personal goals, and household living. The role also involves maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment that addresses the physical, emotional, and personal needs of the individuals, aiming to improve functioning and minimize interfering behaviors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED required.
  • Have a Valid NY Driver's License.
  • Be flexible, patient, energetic, creative, and have a sense of humor.
  • Have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adults with special needs.
  • Devereux has a zero-tolerance policy for abuse and maintains policies and procedures to systematically reduce the risk of abuse to occur in our organization.
  • Devereux fosters a culture of reporting abuse, and will cooperate with the authorities to the fullest extent possible.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • Consideration will be given for a candidate without a High School diploma if enrolled in a GED program.
  • One year experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Sleep overnight at the assigned location (anticipating an average of seven hours of sleep per night), while being responsive to the needs of the residents in the event that support is needed.
  • Assisting individuals in daily activities, including health and personal management.
  • Assisting individuals in achieving personal goals.
  • Assisting individuals with daily household living.
  • Maintaining a safe and therapeutic treatment environment that meets the physical, emotional, and personal needs of program individuals.
  • Improving functioning and minimizing interfering behaviors.
