About The Position

Devereux New York is seeking dedicated professionals to join their team as Sleep Direct Support Professionals (DSP). This role offers the unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities while earning money during sleep hours. The position is located at the Scenic Hill IRA in Clermont, NY. The Sleep DSP will be permitted to sleep overnight at the assigned location, anticipating an average of seven hours of sleep per night, while remaining responsive to resident needs if support is required. During awake hours, the DSP will assist individuals with daily activities such as health and personal management, achieving personal goals, and daily household living. The role also involves maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment that meets the physical, emotional, and personal needs of the individuals, aiming to improve functioning and minimize interfering behaviors. Devereux New York serves individuals with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses.

Requirements

• High School Diploma / GED required.
• Valid NY Driver's License.
• Be flexible, patient, energetic, creative, and have a sense of humor.
• Have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adults with special needs.
• Consideration will be given for a candidate without a High School diploma if enrolled in a GED program.

Nice To Haves

• Associates Degree preferred.
• One year experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Sleep overnight at the assigned location, anticipating an average of seven hours of sleep per night.
• Be responsive to the needs of the residents in the event that support is needed during overnight hours.
• Assist individuals in daily activities, including health and personal management.
• Assist individuals in achieving personal goals.
• Assist individuals with daily household living.
• Maintain a safe and therapeutic treatment environment that meets the physical, emotional, and personal needs of program individuals.
• Improve functioning and minimize interfering behaviors of program individuals.
