About The Position

This role is with a family-oriented company that provides services to intellectually and developmentally challenged adults in their homes and community, assisting them in participating in daily routines and recreational activities. The position involves supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, behavioral challenges, dual diagnoses, or forensic involvement.

Requirements

  • A High School diploma or GED equivalent and be at least 18 years old.
  • Relevant experience working with Individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities, behavioral challenges, dual diagnoses, or forensic involvement.
  • A current driver’s license and California automobile insurance coverage for driving your personal vehicle to and from various community locations either independently or with other team members and/or Individuals.
  • If a company vehicle is available for use, one must also be 21 years of age.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Individuals with their personal needs (e.g., hygiene matters like baths/showers, changing clothes/adult briefs, teeth brushing, medication reminders, etc.) and with social needs (e.g., prepare meals, clean, and engage with them through exercise/movement, games and/or transporting them in your, or company, vehicle to community activities, etc.).
  • Keep accurate progress notes and proactively communicate information with your team about the Individuals’ needs.
  • Participate in all required training, team, and company meetings.
  • Take ownership of your own behaviors, and help coach others over time, in how to effectively demonstrate the company’s C.A.R.E. values (compassion, adaptability, respect, and empowerment).
  • Learn techniques to help individuals have positive interactions with others and reach their goals.
