About The Position

Thermo King Midwest, an award-winning authorized Thermo King dealership group, provides refrigerated transportation products, parts, service, and aftermarket accessories. The Skilled Transport Refrigeration Technician troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs Thermo King and Carrier refrigeration units, diagnosing, repairing, adjusting, and modifying components. The role involves hands-on work with transport refrigeration equipment and systems spanning refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, and diesel. It is an onsite position five days per week, with overtime and on-call work as needed. The technician must supply their own tools, keep paperwork up to date, use diagnostic computers and work-order systems, and be able to safely operate a forklift. The position is safety-sensitive and may require additional drug screening.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 1–2 years of experience working with transport refrigeration and/or HVAC.
• Knowledge or experience with Thermo King refrigeration repair or HVAC.
• Knowledge of low-voltage and high-voltage electrical systems and microprocessors.
• EPA Certification 608 Universal or Type 1 and 2, and 609 Certification.
• Must supply own tools.
• Ability to achieve and maintain required certifications and training.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
• Dependable and reliable, with the ability to retain standard operating procedures and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Current, valid driver's license and a driving record meeting the company's insurance carrier's insurability guidelines.
• Ability to pass a DOT-approved physical.
• Ability to regularly stand, walk, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and use hands to handle objects.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair Thermo King and Carrier refrigeration units.
• Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify unit components.
• Update and submit paperwork upon completion of work.
• Use diagnostic computers to troubleshoot and perform repairs.
• Use computers for web-based training and the work-order system.
• Work overtime and be on call as needed.
• Safely operate a forklift.
