About The Position

Leavenworth Public Schools is seeking a skilled and dependable tradesperson to join our Facilities team. This position is designed to attract qualified candidates with professional experience, licensure, or certification in at least one of three skilled trades: HVAC, plumbing, or electrical. Candidates are not required to be qualified in all three areas. Applicants with experience or credentials in multiple trades are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate’s primary responsibilities will be aligned with their area(s) of expertise, and the employee will work as part of the Facilities team to maintain safe, comfortable, and well-functioning schools throughout the district.

Requirements

  • Experience in applicable field totaling at least five years
  • Certification, Journeyman or Master License in applicable field
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Health and Inoculation Certificate on file in the central office (after employment offer is made.)
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Applicable professional experience and/or certification or licensure in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical work.
  • Qualification in one trade is sufficient for consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair district HVAC systems, including boilers, chillers, air handlers, ventilation systems, and related equipment.
  • Monitor and adjust automated climate controls and building automation systems to support occupant comfort, system performance, and energy efficiency.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and identify equipment or system repair and replacement needs.
  • Respond to HVAC-related work orders and emergencies and maintain appropriate service and repair records.
  • Ensure HVAC work is completed safely and in accordance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair district plumbing systems, including water, sewer, and gas lines.
  • Repair and replace plumbing fixtures and equipment, including faucets, sinks, toilets, water fountains, water heaters, and related components.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and seasonal winterization of plumbing systems.
  • Complete plumbing repairs, maintenance, removal, and installation in accordance with applicable codes.
  • Maintain necessary parts, supplies, tools, and equipment and respond to plumbing-related work orders and emergencies.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment throughout district facilities.
  • Install and service components such as lighting, electrical panels, switches, circuits, motors, transformers, and related equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical problems and determine appropriate equipment or system repair and replacement needs.
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance to ensure electrical systems remain safe and operational.
  • Complete electrical work in accordance with applicable safety requirements and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Support the broader Facilities team with preventive maintenance, work orders, emergency response, facility projects, and other duties necessary to maintain safe and efficient district facilities.
