About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting skilled trades personnel in performing a variety of maintenance and repair tasks within the district's facilities. The role involves supporting electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, and other maintenance staff in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of school buildings and grounds. The assistant will perform general labor, operate tools and equipment under supervision, and learn various trade skills.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Valid Nevada Driver's License.
Ability to operate hand and power tools.
Basic understanding of maintenance and repair principles.
Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.
Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, climbing, and working in various environmental conditions.
Knowledge of safety procedures.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience in a maintenance or construction-related field.
Familiarity with building systems and trades.

Responsibilities

Assist skilled trades workers (e.g., electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, carpenters) in performing maintenance, repair, and installation tasks.
Perform general labor duties such as cleaning work areas, moving materials, and preparing sites for work.
Operate hand and power tools and equipment under the direction of skilled trades personnel.
Learn and apply basic principles of various trades.
Respond to work orders and assist in troubleshooting and resolving maintenance issues.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and district policies.
Maintain tools and equipment in good working order.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
