About The Position

Shirley Contracting Company, LLC is accepting applications for Skilled Laborers to support projects at various jobsites. The role involves a variety of manual labor and site-support tasks, including traffic control, site preparation, excavation support, and installation of erosion and sediment controls. Work takes place outdoors in all seasons and may involve heavy equipment, heights, and confined spaces. Employees must follow the company’s health and safety requirements and maintain positive working relationships with customers and coworkers. This is a full-time, year-round position. Starting time varies between 6:00 AM and 7:00 AM; overtime, nights, and weekends may be required. The base hourly pay range is $17.00–$25.00, with compensation potentially varying based on education, experience, skills, and geographic location. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Requirements

Work outdoors in all seasons.
Be comfortable working alongside heavy equipment and communicating with operators, workers, and pedestrians.
Be comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces with safety equipment and training.
Regularly perform moderate to heavy lifting (more than 15 pounds), pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, reaching, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and squatting.
Have a working knowledge of hand and power tools.
Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
Wear safety-toe boots, long pants, and shirts with four-inch sleeves; required PPE includes a hard hat, safety glasses, Class 3 vest, and gloves.
Be at least 18 years of age.
Be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Responsibilities

Perform flagging, traffic closures, and related tasks as assigned.
Clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, set braces to support excavation sides, clean up rubble and debris, and remove waste materials.
Install erosion and sediment controls, including silt fence, super silt fence, and gutter buddies.
Perform manual labor and other tasks to support projects.
Work on a variety of tasks during a given day.
Meet the company’s health and safety culture, policies, and requirements.
Establish and maintain positive working relationships with customers and coworkers.
