About The Position

The Diocese of Allentown is seeking a full-time, non-exempt Skilled Laborer for Holy Saviour Cemetery in Bethlehem. This position involves maintaining cemetery grounds, operating various equipment, and assisting with burials. The role requires a strong work ethic, integrity, and the ability to work independently and professionally with others. Due to the nature of the Catholic Church's mission, employees are expected to exhibit respect for its teachings and maintain a lifestyle in conformity with those teachings.

Requirements

• High School Diploma (preferred).
• Must exhibit a high degree of integrity, loyalty, time management skill, dependability, and have a strong work ethic.
• Must have knowledge of grounds and building tools and equipment operations.
• Ability to perform repairs to minor equipment.
• Ability to work independently, multi-task, and demonstrate competence in all areas of responsibility.
• Ability to work with all staff members, co-workers, and contractors in a professional manner.
• Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver's License. Revocation of PA Driver's license may result in termination of employment.
• Must be able to lift weights up to 50 lbs. Occasionally items weighing more than 50 lbs. are lifted with assistance from co-workers.
• Must be able to walk on hilly, flat, or rolling terrain.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cemetery grounds, including grass cutting, trimming, tree and shrub removal, leaf maintenance, and spring clean-up.
• Dig foundations for graves.
• Perform snow removal at cemeteries, the Tribunal, and residences of current and retired Bishops.
• Assist with burials and entombments, including erecting tents and preparing graves.
• Operate small tractors, small trucks, lawn mowers, trucks, and payloaders (front-end loaders).
• Operate push mowers and large mowers (Yazoo/Locke).
• Clean and store all tools and equipment as directed.
• Perform any work directed by the Superintendent, Foreman, or Field Supervisor.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
