About The Position

The Provo City Parks & Recreation Department is looking for a part-time laborer to work in the Cemetery year-round. This position involves maintaining the cemetery in all weather conditions and using a variety of tools and equipment to provide upkeep. Qualified, civic-minded individuals interested in supporting the services provided to Provo residents by the cemetery are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

• Any training or experience that demonstrates an ability to perform the work.
• Physical strength and agility to perform the work.
• Ability to follow directions and communicate with the public in a courteous manner.
• Knowledge of the safe use of hand tools and equipment required by the position.
• Must pass a drug screen and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Mow grounds by hand or with power mowers.
• Use power string trimmers.
• Install and maintain sprinkler systems, including affixing and setting sprinkler heads.
• Assist in maintaining shrubs and flower beds.
• Perform general construction and maintenance work on buildings in the cemetery, itself, including plumbing and painting
• Operate heavy equipment, such as trucks and specialized cemetery maintenance equipment.
• Use various hand and power tools in performance of heavy manual labor.
• Maintain tools and equipment and perform other related duties as required.
