About The Position

Global Medical Response (GMR), through AMR, offers active-duty U.S. military members a SkillBridge opportunity to gain civilian work experience in medical response through training and skilled employment. The program is available to eligible service members during the final six months of their obligated service and runs for up to 180 days. Participants must be located in the South Region (AR, LA, MS, TN, AL, GA, FL, SC, or NC) and be active-duty military. The role focuses on compassionate, high-quality service and advanced patient care.

Requirements

• Be a current active-duty service member.
• Meet DoD SkillBridge qualifications.
• Be available to participate for at least 90 days.
• Obtain unit commander approval and acknowledge that the Service may terminate participation at any time if mission requirements dictate.
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• State driver’s license.
• National or state Paramedic certification, as applicable.
• CPR certification.
• PALS certification.
• PHTLS or ITLS certification.
• Pass a Physical Ability Test.
• Driving record in compliance with company policy.

Responsibilities

• Assess each call situation and determine an appropriate course of action using progressive Paramedic protocols.
• Use Paramedic skills and medical equipment and procedures, including a defibrillator, EKG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, and intravenous fluids, to provide advanced medical care.
• Communicate with patients and their loved ones, providing information and reassurance about care.
• Lead the Paramedic team and take responsibility for scene and unit management as needed.
• Drive the ambulance on 911 responses.
• Work collaboratively and professionally with allied health and public safety personnel and fellow Paramedics.
• Participate in community programs to maintain GMR’s image and establish strong community relations.
