About The Position

Quest, Inc. is seeking a Skill Instructor for its Adult Training Center in Tampa. This role is crucial in enriching the lives of individuals with disabilities by providing a path to independence, community inclusion, and empowerment. The Skill Instructor will facilitate skill development programs, assist participants in engaging in meaningful daily activities, and ensure the smooth operation of vocational skill training. This position involves direct care, transportation, and maintaining a safe and clean environment.

Requirements

• High school diploma (required)
• 18 years of age or older (required)
• Read, write, and comprehend English with the ability to remain calm and communicate during a crisis (required)

Nice To Haves

• Valid FL Driver’s License with no major driving violations at all times (preferred)
• Previous working knowledge utilizing basic office equipment (computer, copier, tablet, calculator, etc.) (preferred)
• Experience with Hoyer lift, van lift, and adaptive equipment (wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, etc.) (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Drive large capacity vehicles to provide transportation to program participants to/from the training center and community outings.
• Administer prescribed medications, monitor self-administration of medications, follow protocol for disposal of medications, maintain medication count, and communicate with the pharmacy as needed.
• Facilitate skill development programs for assigned participants, including instruction, assistance, prompting, and documentation. Provide feedback on skill development programs.
• Actively facilitate, assist, and encourage program participants to engage in meaningful daily activities (e.g., Art, Fitness, Social, Adult Education), community inclusion trips, and other routine activities.
• Ensure outlined processes and timelines are met for paid vocational skill training, including assisting in contract work, performing quality assurance, and loading/unloading contract work.
• Implement personal care, meal, and behavior service protocols, and provide care for program participants, including activities of daily living (personal hygiene, toileting, mealtime assistance, repositioning).
• Facilitate a safe working environment through routine housekeeping, reporting potential hazards, and maintaining assigned areas.
• Report to work during inclement weather to ensure adequate supervision and care of individuals, which may include sheltering in place during a hurricane.
