About The Position

Yellowstone Club's Ski Patrol department is currently seeking candidates for a Ski Patroller for the upcoming Winter season! Our Winter employment dates are mid-November - April 21st. The purpose of a Ski Patroller is to encompass daily tasks to reduce hazards and create a safe skiing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or vocational training or job-related course work required
  • Montana EMT Certification
  • Ability to ski the toughest terrain at the ski area in a strong, stable manner
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High integrity and be detail oriented, and have a positive attitude

Responsibilities

  • Perform general on-mountain safety work including maintaining tower pads, bamboo, rope lines, race closures, traffic control, and avalanche hazard assessment.
  • Respond to emergencies.
  • Assess skier's/snowboarder’s injuries, provide immediate first aid and provide transport down the mountain, and complete required paperwork.
  • Document the injury or accident, note the medical condition of the patient and work with Yellowstone Club Fire Department for the patient to be transported to a local medical facility if necessary.
  • Complete all required training as directed by the Manager of Ski Patrol.
  • Promote mountain safety by enforcing area policies, clearing debris from the ski runs, maintaining the resort boundaries, and other specialized techniques (e.g. avalanche control, toboggan handling, chairlift evacuation, avalanche search and rescue, snowmobile operation).
  • Conduct trail checks of the mountain before opening and closing hours to ensure that the mountain is safe for Members and guests; Mark and/or remove hazards appropriately
  • Maintain training and certifications throughout employment.
  • Transport equipment around the mountain on skis or snowmobiles.
  • Engage in run checks, afternoon sweeps, and day and night search and rescue.
