About The Position

The Granite Club is looking for a full time Skating Manager who will be reporting to the Head Skating Professional. The Skating Manager will serve the best interest of the Club and its Skating Members in efficiently and productively administering the Skating section. In providing support to the Skating section coaches, section committee and Club Members, the incumbent should deliver service which exceeds expectations. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Recreation or equivalent in education, training and experience required
  • A minimum of two to three years of management experience in a similar role required
  • Current CPR/First Aid training
  • Knowledge of Skating Industry
  • Demonstrates strong and effective planning, organizational and leadership skills
  • Excellent Member relations, ability to solve problems with finesse.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills required
  • Proven ability to work under minimal supervision as well as within a team environment
  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications recommended
  • Working proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Experience in event registration software and ability to learn event management software, such as NorthStar
  • Available to work extended hours and weekends as required

Responsibilities

  • Complete Incident and Accident reports in a timely manner as required
  • Provide ongoing Granite Gold service to all Members, Guests, and Staff; Genuine Hospitality, Outstanding Attention to Detail, Listening and Anticipating Needs, and Dedication to Excellence
  • Ensuring established Granite Club and Skating Section standards are met, with correct procedures and administration.
  • Responsible for tracking Member complaints, inquiries and relations with respect to the Skating Section
  • Participate with the Head Skating Professional, Skating Development Coach and Head Competitive Coach to ensure proper rink supervision and safety.
  • Participates in Athletics & Recreation meetings and other Club Meetings as required.
  • Liaise with Finance concerning any Member queries (section cancellation, credits, discrepancies)
  • Perform Northstar responsibilities: Building and maintaining of programs and events, Coaches Menu Cards and Items
  • Provide administrative support to Section Committee members and Coaching staff as required in matters pertaining to the Granite Club program.
  • Develop and layout all administrative forms and procedures.
  • Establish and maintain an effective administrative system for the Skating section; ensure that an efficient, up to date system is maintained, which records membership information, program information, billing and business transactions.
  • Responsible for training, supervision, and performance of the Music Room staff; accountable for scheduling and budget control of Part time staff hours.
  • Responsible for entry of staff hours into Dayforce
  • Responsible for submitting charges for the Skating Coaches commissions.
  • Ensure proper billing to Members’ accounts and chit submissions for casual fees; test days, special events, etc.
  • Help oversee Coaching Staff and Contractors: Attendance, Leaves of absence, Substitutions, Assignments
  • Deal with matters pertaining to the quarterly Section Committee meetings: Agendas, Minutes, etc., Confirming attendance, Booking rooms for meetings or zoom meetings if needed, Attend meetings
  • Work closely with Committee with regards to events to ensure smooth and efficient operation of all special events including, function planning, checking facilities reservations, set-ups, registration and billing.
  • Coordinate the Entertainment account with the Section treasurer.
  • Coordinate and submit Granite News and Programming Guide submissions
  • Work the Facilities Department to ensure that ice surface, equipment and facilities are maintained in good condition.
  • Work with the Head Skating Professional and Committee members for Club Championships.
  • Assist the Head Skating Professional, Skating Development Coach and Head Competitive Coach to identify budget requirements and recommendations for the upcoming year; oversee and balance the budget throughout the year.
  • Initiate and coordinate promotion of the Skating program and events within the Club, i.e. website, ESS, Activity boards, etc.
  • Ensure that accurate statistics of usage are readily available.
  • Make recommendations to the Head Skating Professional, Skating Development Coach and Head Competitive Coach on improvements to the Skating programs.
  • Follow-up with appropriate Members and staff
  • Ensure the office environment is well presented and that desks adhere to the nightly clean desk policy
  • Monitor and maintain a list of the Member accomplishments that would qualify them for recognition at the annual Athletics Recognition Dinner awards banquet
  • Participate as required as a member of the Club's Staff supervisory group.
