About The Position

THE SKATESIDE is a skateboarding and roller skating program focused on teaching children skills that build confidence, teamwork, and community. We are seeking an enthusiastic Skateboard Instructor to create positive experiences for kids while upholding our program standards. Our approach goes beyond teaching skateboarding and roller-skating skills. We focus on building character, confidence, and resilience. Through guided instruction and mentorship, kids develop essential life skills like problem-solving, perseverance, and self-discipline—all while having fun in a safe, supportive environment. We collaborate with municipalities, schools, and families to create enriching programs that foster self-awareness, mental well-being, and a sense of community. Our lessons are tailored to align with each child’s age and developmental needs, ensuring that every participant feels empowered and motivated to succeed on and off the board.

Requirements

Experience teaching or coaching children.
Strong skateboarding knowledge and ability to demonstrate basic to intermediate skills.
First Aid & CPR certification (American Red Cross preferred).
Outgoing personality and strong communication skills.
Patience, adaptability, and reliability.

Nice To Haves

Coursework or credits in childhood education.
Skills in organization, social media, or content creation.

Responsibilities

Lead engaging skateboarding lessons and activities, ensuring high-quality instruction.
Supervise and support students during class, prioritizing safety at all times.
Assist with setup, gear checks, and maintaining a safe skating environment.
Arrive on time and prepared for lessons/events.
Communicate with leadership about availability, scheduling, and any coverage needs.
Participate in staff trainings and program events when scheduled.
Foster a welcoming, encouraging, and positive environment for children and families.
Communicate with parents professionally and with care.
Collaborate with fellow instructors and staff to deliver a consistent program experience.
