About The Position

Scotland Health Care System is seeking a dedicated Sitter to join our team at Scotland Memorial Hospital. This part-time position involves ensuring patient safety by observing patients at risk for falls or potential harm to themselves or others. The Sitter will communicate observations to the nursing staff, assist patients with passing time comfortably by reading to them, and accompany them on short walks. In emergency situations, the Sitter is responsible for immediately sounding the alarm. This role requires compassionate communication with patients and the ability to work effectively under the supervision of healthcare professionals.

Requirements

Ability to communicate with patients in a compassionate manner.
Ability to work well under the supervision of a health care professional.
Demonstrates excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Diplomacy, tact, and a positive approach to problem solving are required to be successful.
Organizational skills and confidentiality are a must.
Must be able to communicate with other departments and staff in an articulate manner.
Must be able to explain technical aspects of duties performed to supervisor and co-workers.

Responsibilities

Communicate with the professional nursing staff about observations regarding patient safety.
Read to patients to help in passing time comfortably.
Take short walks with the patient along hospital hallways.
Immediately sound the alarm during an emergency.
Observe patients who are at risk for falls or the potential for harming himself or others and report immediately to the nurse.
