About The Position

Scotland Memorial Hospital is seeking a part-time Patient Safety Attendant to work the 7p-7a shift on the 3rd shift. This role is crucial for ensuring patient safety by observing patients at risk for falls or self-harm, communicating observations to nursing staff, and responding to emergencies. The Patient Safety Attendant will also assist patients with light activities like reading and short walks. Requirements

Ability to communicate with patients in a compassionate manner.
Ability to work well under the supervision of a health care professional.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Diplomacy, tact, and a positive approach to problem-solving.
Organizational skills and confidentiality are a must.
Must be able to communicate with other departments and staff in an articulate manner.
Must be able to explain technical aspects of duties performed to supervisor and co-workers.

Responsibilities

Communicate with professional nursing staff about observations regarding patient safety.
Read to patients to help pass time comfortably.
Take short walks with the patient along hospital hallways.
Immediately sound the alarm during an emergency.
Observe patients who are at risk for falls or the potential for harming himself or others, and report immediately to the nurse.
