About The Position

Provide observation to patients who require continuous observation. The primary purpose of this position is to provide routine daily observation and services to maintain patient safety in accordance with the patient's rights and care plan, under the direction of a professional nurse. The position is based at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in the Float department and is per diem, with a Monday–Sunday rotation.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent experience.
BLS CPR certification required within 90 days of hire.
Good physical and mental health to accommodate long periods of standing and walking.
Frequently lift 10 pounds and occasionally lift 20 pounds.
Manual dexterity to feed a patient when delegated.
Visual and aural acuity to adequately observe the patient's condition.

Responsibilities

Monitor the patient's verbalizations and immediately inform the nurse if the patient expresses an idea or intention to hurt themselves or others, or to leave without physician's permission.
Observe the patient and maintain a safe environment. As delegated by the RN, provide care that does not interfere with maintaining continuous visual contact.
Remain in the patient's room with an unobstructed view of the patient.
Turn on, turn off, or adjust a radio or television station or volume only at the patient's request.
Preserve the patient's dignity by ensuring the patient is covered and adjusting curtains and the door to provide privacy.
Feed patients following assessment and delegation by an RN.
