About The Position

Under direct supervision and according to established procedures, the Patient Sitter observes and monitors assigned patients’ behavior. The role provides safety interventions and basic self-care assistance as needed, with attention to patients’ behavioral needs. The Patient Sitter may accompany patients to clinical studies, document pertinent observation data, and notify appropriate nursing personnel when necessary.

The position is with Children’s Hospital of Michigan, an international leader in pediatric and adolescent medicine. Its services include pediatric surgical and diagnostic services, a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and dedicated pediatric burn center, and pediatric critical care, rehabilitation, neonatal, and perinatal care.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Completion of a formal CPR course is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Observe and monitor assigned patients’ behavior.
