Patient Sitter
About The Position
Under direct supervision and according to established procedures, the Patient Sitter observes and monitors assigned patients’ behavior. The role provides safety interventions and basic self-care assistance as needed, with attention to patients’ specific behavioral needs. The Patient Sitter accompanies patients to clinical studies, documents relevant observational data, and notifies appropriate nursing personnel when necessary. The position is with Children’s Hospital of Michigan, a pediatric and adolescent care provider offering specialized surgical, imaging, emergency, trauma, burn, critical care, rehabilitation, neonatal, and perinatal services. The hospital is part of Tenet Healthcare.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of a formal CPR course is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Observe and monitor assigned patients’ behavior according to established procedures.
- Provide safety interventions and assist with basic self-care needs as needed.
- Attend to patients’ specific behavioral needs.
- Accompany patients to clinical studies.
- Document pertinent observational data.
- Notify appropriate nursing personnel when necessary.
