About The Position

Dowagiac Union Schools is seeking a SITT Room Coordinator to supervise students placed in the SITT program. This role involves monitoring student behavior, ensuring adherence to program rules, and maintaining a safe and structured environment. The coordinator will also provide academic and emotional support, collaborate with school staff, maintain records, and assist with conflict resolution and behavioral issues.

Requirements

Must meet the minimum requirements for Instructional Paraprofessionals in Title I Schools (have Degree, Associates, 60 college hours or pass the ParaEducator Test).
Ability to implement Restorative Practices.
Familiarity with techniques and strategies for managing student behavior and conflict resolution.
Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with students, teachers, administrators, and parents.
Good organizational skills to manage students, documentation, and maintain a structured environment.
Ability to work collaboratively with other school staff members to support student success and maintain a consistent approach to restorative practices.

Nice To Haves

Previous experience working with students in a school or educational setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

Supervise students who have been placed in SITT, monitoring behavior, ensuring rules are followed, and maintaining a safe and structured environment.
Offer academic and emotional support to students, encouraging reflection on actions and positive choices.
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other staff to exchange information about student progress, behavior, and concerns.
Keep accurate records of student attendance, behavior incidents, and other relevant documentation.
Help students resolve conflicts and address behavioral issues.
Perform other duties as assigned within state and federal guidelines.
