About The Position

A classroom coordinator is responsible for the implementation of the goals of Catholic education as outlined in The Holy See’s Teaching on Catholic Schools (Archbishop Michael Miller): Inspired by a Supernatural Vision, Founded on a Christian Anthropology, Animated by Communion and Community, Imbued with a Catholic Worldview, Sustained by Gospel Witness. Qualified candidates will be driven and inspired by the mission of Catholic schools to form young men and women in a high school setting “who will be good citizens of the world, loving God and neighbor and enriching society with the leaven of the gospel, and who will also be good citizens of the world to come, thus fulfilling their destiny to become saints” (Miller 20).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Must possess clear communication skills and strong work ethic in a team environment
  • Commitment to being a supportive, respectful, and energetic colleague
  • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior while maintaining a professional manner
  • Ability to demonstrate poise, empathy, tact, and diplomacy
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to discern among competing priorities, separating what is essential from what is non-essential

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge or experience with Blackboard (or other LMS) is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Provide guaranteed availability of personnel to cover for those who are out because of illness or other commitments
  • Available as an immediate answer to the need to cover classes, study halls or other duties as assigned
  • Carefully follow lesson plans provided by the teacher and ensure students are adequately supervised the entire class period
  • If assigned as a study hall monitor, follow the Study Hall Guidelines as noted in the Faculty Handbook – the primary responsibility is student supervision
  • Submit classroom attendance in a timely manner
  • Manage student behavior on campus as necessary
  • Serve as a positive role model for students and supporting the school’s mission statement
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures in accordance with the rules of the Bishop Lynch Student Handbook
  • Participate in school liturgies and assemblies
