The Site Technician III/ Lead is responsible for small projects, mowing, weed eating, seeding, planting, weed control, equipment maintenance, snow and ice control, asphalt or concrete work, brick or stonework, demolition, grading, and/or site cleanup tasks. They will assist in field renovations, grading, and/or site clean-up tasks and will assist Facilities maintenance staff on projects assigned. This role requires working independently and exercising good judgment and discretion. As essential personnel, this role is expected to be available during school closings, delays, shutdowns, and emergencies, including severe weather incidents. This includes performing snow removal activities such as shoveling and salting. Employees in the Facilities Management Division are crucial to the success of Liberty University's day-to-day functions, especially during campus events like Winter Fest, Orientation, Convocation, Commencement, CFAW, and summer camps, as well as other planned and unplanned events. Availability for scheduled and unscheduled hours during emergency needs is mandatory. The role reports to the Grounds Supervisor/Manager and/or Director of Grounds. It requires wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and a harness with a lanyard if operating aerial lifts. The position involves working with 2-3 employees and performing various grounds maintenance tasks including planting, routine lawn maintenance, seasonal clean-up, moving materials, digging, hauling, spreading materials, and hand-finishing grade. Chemical application is performed under the direction of a licensed applicator. Equipment maintenance and customer inquiries are also part of the responsibilities. The role requires operating various light/heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. Project completion includes ensuring full inspection, securing equipment, and removing barriers. The Site Technician III/ Lead is responsible for the proper and safe use and maintenance of all equipment, tools, and chemicals. They work closely with the entire Grounds Team on all phases of ground maintenance and support new plantings and removals. Special projects as assigned and staying abreast of emerging technologies are also expected. The role requires working effectively as a team member, embracing and fostering LU’s mission.
