Requirements

  • Child Development Site Supervisor Permit AA (or equivalent)
  • Minimum of 60 college units including specific coursework in Early Childhood Education, administration, and adult supervision.
  • At least two years of experience working with preschool-age children (ages 3-5).
  • Two years of supervisory experience.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish preferred.
  • Solid understanding of the needs of rural families.
  • Experience interacting with diverse populations.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines.
  • Positive attitude.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with staff and community members.
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs.
  • 24 semester units of Early Childhood Education or Child Development
  • 6 units of Administration
  • 2 units of Adult Supervision
  • 2 years of experience working with infants/toddlers and/or preschool age children within the past four years
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience supervising adults
  • Preventative Health Card or Health, saftey and nutrition class
  • Experience working effectively with minority and low-income families and adults at all levels of the socioeconomic structure of the community
  • Possess knowledge of the needs of rural children and their families
  • Interacts with children and is able to relate to them in a supportive and non-judgmental way in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide - compute percentages
  • Ability to express and exchange ideas in proper English (bilingual preferred - Spanish/English) and work cooperatively with staff and clients and community from varied backgrounds and experiences
  • Possess the ability to read a variety of materials such as work procedures and safety rules.
  • Write reports, record observations and document conversations with proper spelling, grammar and format
  • Capability to meet deadlines and work under tight-time schedules
  • Must portray a positive attitude towards children, families and staff
  • Ability to react with flexibility and sensitivity to changing situations and needs

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the smooth operation of the center in compliance with all applicable policies and regulations.
  • Overseeing daily operations, including supervising teachers.
  • Planning and executing engaging activities that foster a nurturing classroom environment.
  • Conducting parent/teacher conferences.
  • Managing volunteer support.
  • Ensuring that all performance standards, community care licensing, and state regulations are met.
  • Handling staff scheduling.
  • Conducting performance appraisals.
  • Mentoring team members.
  • Providing training according to established job descriptions.
  • Promoting team collaboration.
  • Addressing any concerns through corrective action.
