About The Position

The Site Safety Coordinator will support the Site Manager in planning and preparation of all activities to ensure they are carried out in a safe manner. This role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills to develop effective partnerships and achieve mutual goals. The coordinator must demonstrate a strong ability to analyze data, evaluate situations, and identify problems or opportunities, including likely causes of incidents. Key responsibilities include attending customer and contractor safety meetings, coordinating site safety meetings, performing PPE checks, conducting safety audits, coordinating Rx safety glasses needs, tracking safety certifications, reporting incidents and near misses, filing and tracking safety documents, attending monthly download calls, and communicating effectively with coworkers and supervisors. The role also involves reinforcing PROtect’s commitment to safety, ensuring training completion, completing and conducting defensive driving programs, supporting HR and Corporate Safety with employee credentials and clearances, leading local safety meetings, and assisting with incident investigations and Return to Work programs. Additionally, the coordinator will perform periodic inspections of various safety equipment and facilities, and encourage employee engagement with PROtect’s Safety Needs Active Participation (SNAP) program.

Requirements

  • Ability to analyze data, evaluate situations and identify problems or opportunities, including likely causes.

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Safety-oriented attitude with a true commitment to personal safety as well as the safety of other is a must.
  • Fall protection equipment inspection competent person training required.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Site Manager in planning and preparation of all activities to ensure they are carried out in a safe manner.
  • Attend Customer and Contractor Safety Meetings, reporting back information.
  • Coordinate monthly and quarterly site safety meetings with PROtect Sr Director EHS.
  • Perform PPE Checks.
  • Conduct Safety Audits for all PROtect staff at the site.
  • Coordinate needs for Rx Safety Glasses.
  • Track safety certifications/expiration dates, including but not limited to Basic Plus, TWIC, etc.
  • Reporting Incidents and near misses per PROtect and Customer requirements.
  • Filing/Scanning and tracking of daily safety talks and JHAs.
  • Attend the Download call monthly to address safety concerns and update on what is coming up in the month ahead.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors on a daily basis.
  • Work with PROtect Safety representatives and local ARSO to reinforce PROtect’s commitment to safety.
  • Ensure new hire and refresher training is completed along with any client required safety council training.
  • Complete defensive driving program and conduct training with employees.
  • Support HR and Corporate Safety to ensure employees have necessary training credentials, site clearances (drug screens, backgrounds) and site-specific PPE for all client work.
  • Lead local in-person Monthly safety meetings, encourage active participation and ensuring they are interactive and discussive in nature.
  • Support data collection, reporting of incidents, investigations, and Return to Work programs/alternative job assignments and activities as needed.
  • Assist with periodic inspections as required by company policy or regulatory standards.
  • Encourage employee engagement with PROtect’s Safety Needs Active Participation (SNAP) program.
