The Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant work environment at a U.S. Army contractor site focused on equipment turn-in, retrograde, and property disposal operations. This role ensures adherence to OSHA, DoD, and Army safety standards and actively promotes a culture of safety among all site personnel and subcontractors. Supervises safety programs to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths, and financial losses. Develops accident-prevention and loss-control systems and programs for incorporation into operational policies of organization. Supervises coordinates safety activities, through subordinate supervisory personnel, to ensure implementation of safety activities throughout program. Identifies and appraises conditions that could produce accidents and financial losses and evaluates potential extent of injuries resulting from accidents. Leads and directs the work of other employees. Typically has authority for personnel decisions related to hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions. Typically requires BA and 2-4 years.
