About The Position

Anduril's newly formed Production Engineering team within Software Platform is responsible for the reliability, performance, and scalability of the cloud infrastructure behind Lattice, Anduril's autonomous command and control platform. The team operates at the intersection of software engineering and systems reliability, providing on-call and incident management tooling, observability, automation, and operational playbooks. It partners with engineering teams across Anduril by providing platform and operational support while product teams retain ownership of their services. The Site Reliability Engineer 2 will help build resilient, highly available systems for Lattice. Working closely with platform engineers, product developers, and field operations, this role will identify reliability risks, respond to incidents, and help service-owning teams improve operational excellence. This is a hands-on role on a growing team, with opportunities to build shared tooling and processes that make reliability improvements easier to deliver. The work supports mission-critical systems in demanding operational environments and has a direct impact on national security.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of engineering experience, including 2+ years in SRE, production operations, or infrastructure engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting Kubernetes in production, including understanding version lifecycles, patching, and ongoing operational risks.
  • Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Go, Python, Rust, or Java, with the ability to build production-grade tooling.
  • Experience building and using observability tooling for metrics, logging, and tracing, such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and infrastructure-as-code practices, preferably Terraform.
  • Ability to troubleshoot distributed systems issues across multiple layers of the stack and work with owning teams on durable fixes.
  • Strong incident management and communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with defense, aerospace, or other mission-critical systems where downtime has severe consequences.
  • Familiarity with performance optimization and capacity planning for high-throughput, low-latency systems.
  • Knowledge of chaos engineering principles and experience with resilience testing.
  • Experience with Kubernetes ingress and traffic management (Gateway API, Contour, or similar).
  • Familiarity with GitOps and deployment automation (ArgoCD, FluxCD) and CI build infrastructure (CircleCI, Nix, or similar).
  • Experience with Terraform workflows at scale, including module design and PR-based automation (Atlantis or similar).
  • Experience with incident and alerting tooling such as PagerDuty, Datadog, or Groundcover.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals, including load balancing, DNS, TLS/SSL, and network security.
  • Experience with configuration management and secrets management solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Active Secret or higher security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Build and improve monitoring, observability, and alerting systems to detect reliability issues and support diagnosis across the Lattice platform.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, triage production incidents, and coordinate response and escalation with teams that own affected services.
  • Contribute to blameless postmortems and turn incident learnings into systemic improvements with service-owning teams.
  • Build and maintain shared reliability tooling and automation that reduce toil, surface risks, and help teams make safer changes.
  • Partner with service owners to identify Kubernetes patch and version risks, develop maintenance plans, and track owner-led updates to completion.
  • Help service teams define and track Service Level Objectives (SLOs) and error budgets to balance feature velocity with reliability.
  • Partner with software engineering teams on reliability patterns such as graceful degradation and circuit breakers.
  • Contribute to capacity planning and performance testing to help systems handle growth and peak operational demands.
  • Create runbooks, documentation, and training materials that help teams operate production systems effectively.
  • Improve deployment safety with software engineering teams through progressive rollouts, automated testing, and rollback capabilities.
  • Work with service owners to incorporate security best practices and compliance controls in production environments handling sensitive defense data.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees, including a comprehensive, competitive benefits package available at little to no cost to employees.
